Hope Simpson is a ceramicist originally from New Orleans and now living in Lafayette, LA. Her ceramics practice is rooted in exploring ideas of grief, nostalgia, and memory through whimsical forms and imagery. She finds hand-building and intricately glazing her pieces to be deeply meditative and grounding practices. Her work is greatly inspired by her experience growing up in Southern Louisiana. She is most fulfilled through creating wall hangings and sculptures, but spends the majority of her practice making wearable and functional pieces, such as jewelry and mugs.
